I call myself a horror writer, but that's just to help those who need to have a genre to hang their hat on. Truth to be told, I write in a variety of different genres, from western to sci-fi. The common thread that runs through all my writing, though, is the darkness. I like that. I like to write about the ugly, nasty people and places. God knows I've seen enough of both over the years.
My life has been a long, weird road. It took me to Taiwan, where I taught English for a while. There were four years where it led me through an enlistment in the Marine Corps, and all the debauchery and craziness that that entails. I even followed it down a dark path that took me through some of the worst parts of my life. I managed to father three kids along the way, marry a couple different women, and I nursed one hell of a drinking problem.
That's where my writing comes from; the weird years, the times and experiences that have indelibly stamped themselves upon me. These are the works of who I am.
